It doesn't look real.

Customers cause the mess, yet blame to overstretched staff.

I worked at a fast food restaurant while I was at high school. Customers would leave disgusting messes and 5 minutes later someone would be complaining of the filth like it was the staff's fault. 

The capacity for people to be lazy when they know others will clean it up is astounding. I would never work the late night shift at a city Maccas store. 

Man, people are disgusting.  An entire rugby team with the munchies after celebrating a big win?

Possibly. I reckon they were drunk and had a serious attack of the munches.

Probably just a typical example of what happens in some of the Open 24 hour stores where they have as few staff as possible in the late night early morning hours and don't do the things that normally happen during the day ... I haven't seen it quite that bad but I have seen it fairly bad in stores in similar areas ... That store is in a nightclub / not the safest place to be late at night area  so alcohol is likely to have been a factor in how the rubbish got there but isn't an excuse for the store not doing the right thing either ...

I constantly observe what I consider to be a complete lack of respect for the staff at my Casino. Many patrons, in the "high rollers" rooms, do not return their glasses when leaving the rooms or when leaving a particular machine. When they are not rushed off their feet, the staff collect the glasses and other rubbish and I only then allow them to take mine away. They are amazed that I collect others glasses when I return mine to the bar. Does it come back to one's own personal values?

Well, I'm 'trained' to take my tray and garbage to the garbage cans in fast food restaurants.  It's just the way it's done where I come from.  Quite easy, really.  Tip the trash into the bin, leave the tray on top.  Here in China when I try to do that, the (usually) security guard guy comes running to assist me.  Worker bees for the menial jobs are still plentiful in this country.

Folks, I live in Adelaide, the city in question, and saw the "story" in the local Sunday rag. The "third world" bit got up my nose, but it's a typical slur trotted out by the Murdoch tabloid press. I was even going to send a letter to the editor, but hey, argue with an idiot and people can't tell the difference.

Hindley Street is a sewer. It's 24 hour low level sleaze and violence. Mickey D's exploits teenage kids, putting them in a working environment with adult drunks and druggies. Of course no-one's going to tell them to put their rubbish in a bin!I certainly wouldn't.

I would have written to the local press telling them that Maccas in China - a "3rd world" country I guess - verges on squeaky clean, IMHO. However the rest of China, as you well know, drops its rubbish in much the same way that you see in the photo. The difference is that China can pay people a few cents an hour to pick it up.

Adelaid McD's can only hold partial blame IMO, I'll guess Bzzd diners are responsible for most of the mess shown in the few seconds of vid...
