MIND YOUR LANGUAGE
« on: May 29, 2009, 04:38:12 PM »
This old [late '70's] Brit comedy is set in an ESL classroom. All the students are blatant stereotypes of the era, including a dogma driven little red book waving Chinese woman.
It's still a laugh though, with mispronounciations and misunderstandings galore. It's on Google videos in full episodes.
My mixed group of high school ESLers think it's hilarious, and don't miss a trick. Many of them are Chinese BTW.
RIP Phil Stephens.
No static at all.

I'll have to look for these...

I'd also recommend the Bill Murray/Harold Ramis film Stripes. At the beginning of the movie Ramis is so down-and-out that he had to take a job teaching ESL; the scene of his class is pretty funny. (He ends up teaching them the chorus part to the rock classic Da Doo Ron Ron...)

I'm trying to figure out how to download a few episodes.
