Title: A present for my girlfriend
Post by: kitano on July 13, 2012, 03:18:57 AM
It's my girlfriend's birthday in about a month and I want to get her something interesting. I kind of hate birthdays because people always just buy unoriginal gifts and it's like a token thing but I love getting and giving gifts that are interesting, so any ideas from people, specially the the Hangzhou people for where to go for an awesome gift?

A plug for my daughter................http://www.etsy.com/shop/TangledEarth?ref=ss_profile (http://www.etsy.com/shop/TangledEarth?ref=ss_profile)

She makes beautiful chainmail jewellery. Delivery is quick, and if you email her and say "Daddy sent me", she will show you new pieces that aren't on Etsy yet. I bought a beautiful matching necklace and bracelet for The Babe, for our 3rd wedding anniversary next week.

How about taking her away for a few days? With the Chinese Filipino tensions at the moment there are pretty cheap flights/deals to be had. I saw flights for 700RMB return during September. Oh wait, that might not work if your gf is local.

Also, through group booking you can get a nice 4 star hotel in Saanya for 3,000RMB for 1 week.

A copy of 'Fifty Shades of Grey'; I am at home and it's all over the place at the moment, tempted to read it myself to see what all the fuss is about...

Isn't Fifty Shades of Grey some sort of softcore Twilight fanfic?

yeah seriously, fifty shades of grey is all over the place...

methinks it S+M softcore ladyporn.

don't kno wif it has a tie in with Twilight or not.

edit: it started off as twilight fan fiction, but was removed from that universe by the author when she realised how popular it was getting

Should be relatively simple, Kitano. Addy packs things properly, and sent mine "Priority". Got it within 10 days. Follow the online directions, and the transaction is very simple. Happy that you like her work. You will have to register on the Etsy site, though. happy shopping! agagagagag agagagagag

I'm glad you mentioned that MK. Why don't you and some of the other guys read it and give the ladies the male perspective? Here in OZ, I am being bombarded about this book from all directions. bibibibibi  I would really like to hear your opinions, as I'm sure would many other ladies. afafafafaf  NO! I'm not going to rush out and read the book and try out anything. uuuuuuuuuu ahahahahah  Seriously though Kitano, I understand that the ladies are really liking this book and learning new tricks.

I can just pirate books on my Kindle...

I read some of "Fifty Shades of Grey"...it had the literary merit of "The Da Vinci Code", the linguistic brilliance of Barbara Cartland, the characters were so flat they could seek shelter from the rain under a telegraph wire and the plot was, as far as I read, non-existent. Not recommendable at all...

Kitano, if your gf is Chinese, treat her to an all-inclusive Spa treatment somewhere fancy and follow it up with romantic dinner and a set of earrings. Or do as I did and ask her what she wants...of course that lead to my gf requesting an iPhone...so maybe don't do that agagagagag agagagagag agagagagag

Can I just hi-jack again? Spa-treatment sounds like a really good idea - How to find / book? Any good websites?

Thanks for your opinion on "Fifty Shades of Grey" ETR. I get the impression that the ladies are reading it as a way to get some ideas on how to "spice" up their love life. afafafafaf  As you probably know, it is at the top on many of the book lists at the moment. To be really honest, particularly in view of your impression, I find it sad that so many women feel the need to read it. bibibibibi Sorry about getting off topic there.

Kitano, I think that George's Daughter has made some special pieces of jewelery. Any one would be an ideal gift. bfbfbfbfbf

kitano sadly I find with many Chinese people (not all mind you) the gift is about the price. Hopefully you have a rare gem but many girls feel that the more money you spend, the more you love them.

By the way, if you really want a racy women's book then go for "My Secret Garden" by Nancy Friday bfbfbfbfbf

This is true...my gf is still puzzled about my b-day request: a cup of coffee, a Subway sandwich and 8 hours of silence for reading...on her b-day she demurely asked for an iPhone4s...the inexpensive nature of my wish baffles her  agagagagag agagagagag

8 hours of silence?

I think your request is far more expensive than you know.

Stop all those silly ideas. This is what girlfriends (and wives) get as presents.

Hmmm...well...I am sure there are some girlfriends and wives who would enjoy getting a naked woman as a present...not my gf though, she does not seem to want one...odd, I know...

So you think we should give our wives/GFs a woman wearing nothing but jewelry? mmmmmmmmmm

Not sure how well this will go over with my wife, but it's worth a try. agagagagag

Casting pearls before swine, that's what it is!!......or as the Chinese say..."playing piano to the cattle".
I'm glad you blokes see the woman in the picture. One of my finest shots, but why do you assume she is naked? She is wearing jewellery, and with jewellery, no woman is naked!

I didn't say she was naked.  I said she was wearing nothing but jewelry. yyyyyyyyyy

I personally hope that this becomes a new fashion trend in China. afafafafaf

What exactly is wrong with playing piano for cattle??? Cows might like a little Beethoven or Mozart....It must only work for women...I put on a necklace and was about to walk out the door and my gf insisted I also put on trousers...also, she most certainly does not want a scantily bejewelled lady for her birthday...odd, I know....

I just learned that cows are more closely related to whales than to horses. Fancy that.

offtopic I know. But it's a fascinating fact nonetheless, no?

That is not a bad idea...I bought one of those infernal things for my gf and now she is constantly mesmerized by the glare of the screen, suffering from Apple-zombieitis...and she almost never has time to tell me what to do and when to do it...essentially, the best thing I ever bought  agagagagag agagagagag agagagagag

My joke that I made, I wanted to buy the google or HTC one because I think Apple is always too expensive but I found out that the other ones are only 7 inches. So I said to my friend 'she's chinese though, 7 inches is massive for her!'

I don't think she'll find it funny....

Lordy, keep that up and you will have to buy both an iPad and the naked chick in the jewellery...or was it just the jewellery we should buy? I am still confused about that  agagagagag agagagagag
