Skype microphone

HELP HELP

I am teaching online again tonight and I have NO sound.

I go to test and when I click on the green phone, in my volume control the computer changes it to mute.  I click off mute and it is still unable to hear any sound when I talk.


Our tech guy hasn't a clue how to help me.  He is busy but said he would come over around 5:30 but other than checking volume control he doesn't know what to do.

Had tech guy back, finally he said I needed a new sound card in my computer.  IF I HAD KEPT HIM HERE at 2PM, maybe he could have bought one.  NOW I have to wait until tomorrow.  CAN'T teach tonight.  I will not tell the school, I will just chat - type, with my students.  Danged if I will give up the money.

Hmmm, I had a similar problem.

But, I had a sound card and a sound chip on-board. If you have the same, you should check the options and ensure that skype is using the correct sound card.

It has been working fine for the last 3 weeks.

It worked for first student last night then I could hear student but he couldn't hear me.  I  originally thoughtit was a Skype problem. but then I tried to to the Skype test call and it wouldn't work. 

Maybe it's the Skype blocking problem. Try downloading Hotspot from Anchorfree.com. See if that works.

I did a trouble shoot as well.  Going into windows there is a sound test.  That also failed.  I could listen to my students, I just couldn't talk to them. 

Tonight, I did a chat session with the students.  It was fun as I could correct their grammar mistakes and sentence structure mistakes and also poor word choice.  When talking, I know what they are saying so I sometimes miss these mistakes.

could it be a microphone problem?

I also have a webcam.  The webcam has a built in microphone.  It didn't work either.  That is why I assumed it was the computer.

Well, I hope you get a solution here. I'm getting the same thing. Sound card OUTPUT is glorious; NADA from mikes. I had to go to tremendous lengths to get 2 5-second sound clips made...

He bought the wrong part and so maybe tomorrow it will work 

The webcam has a built in microphone.  It didn't work either. 

But you have "to tell" your computer, which microphone to use.

We did tell the computer.

He installed a new chip.  It burned and he took it out and said "BBQ".  He is loaning me a laptop until we can fix the problem.  Man I hope he can fix it.  I told him as a last resort to buy me a new computer.
