Never knew it became a series. Was it just the movie cut up or was it a separate story line?

It was the same movie but with additional material - quite possibly a forerunner of the director's cut and special editions that we get a lot of today - the version that I first saw was screened on the BBC in 6 x 50 min. episodes.

I am in no way affiliated with Channel Nine, Millennium Productions etc etc but once again I'll pitch McLeod's Daughters- showed a couple of episodes to a student/ friend here last night (with dinner and FAILED hot cross buns!)....she's now totally in love with Australia and the land and believes there's no truer freedom than on horseback!

I've finished watching In Treatment starring Gabriel Byrne. Brilliant.

I've got two:

"Danger UXB", a minseries about the guys who had to defuse bombs after the German bombing of Great Britain.

After that, it's got to be "Poirot."

I'm not even British!

Deadwood was brilliant. I recently tracked down the entire series run of M. A. S. H. and while it is often considered a comedy, it is so rich in character that it is as rewarding as a good drama. I recently developed an appreciation for Hill Street Blues. I accidentally came into possession of the first season when some discs that were supposed to be Rescue Me turned out to be a pirate factory misprint of Hill Street Blues.

Old Brit series with Edward Woodward..."Callan", and "LOvejoy" with Ian McShane was also terrific.

Spooks (a.k.a. MI-5) and also 24.

Although, 24 is a little too "American".

My first wife used to like Hill Street Blues.

HSB was great.  Combined with St. Elsewhere back-to-back had to make Thursdays in the 80's the best two-hour TV drama night in history.  Followed closely by "NYPD Blues" and "ER" in the 90's although the latter hung on too long.
