Creepy Crawlies
« on: August 24, 2013, 02:54:18 AM »
This guy is an Asian Potter Wasp. Sometimes called Paper Wasps. They are common and there are lots of different varieties. These guys use live caterpillars to incubate their eggs then the babies feed off the caterpillar once they hatch. They are called Potter Wasps because their nest looks like pottery made from paper machete. I always think they look like an animal out of a fantasy novel. If they were big enough, you could ride them to war.

I don't know what kind of spider this is but he scared the crap out of me. I almost stepped on him with my bare foot in my bedroom.

He took off and now I have no other option but to move.

Cool...are you sure it was 'almost' stepped on?  He looks a little flat...

I used to get the occasional house gecko in a place where I lived before, and the first time I ever saw a house centipede was on my bedroom floor here in China, those things are horrific.

Those are way cool.  But it's a case for living in northern China where the creepers aren't so mammoth.  I lived in Florida at my sister's house one year and the cockroaches literally chewed all the labels off or her spice jars for the glue.  I guess I'll put up with the cold.

We do get some big creepies down south but these guys are not among them.

Here's a photo of a same sized snail shell next to an AA battery.

Hey Stil, I have a boatload of picks I'd like to post here. I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out photo bucket. Can I send them to you and you can put them up?
For you to insult me, first I must value your opinion
