What always amazes me is when you get on a long distance bus and as soon as the bus starts everyone falls asleep until they get there

I always thought that the ability to fall asleep everywhere was just me.  Now I know it's genetic!

I do that too. Hell, I do it on city buses.

I have always been fascinated by this habit of the Asian folk. I can not believe that they don't/can't get enough sleep at night. I have observed that they don't fall asleep at the poker machines. ahahahahah When I was nursing and working night shifts, the Doctor had to give me an injection to get me to sleep in the daytime. Even then I had great difficulty and had to give up Nursing because of this.

Too funny. I have told this story many times here in America, how my Chinese university students during break would collectively nod their heads and doze off. I came to find out that the students weren't allowed back in the dorms after 11:00 p.m. and, therefore, spend the night at the local video mall. From the mall, they would go to 8 a.m. class until 12 noon and then head back to their dorms for 8 hours of sleep before commencing same all over again. Yep, got to hand it to the Chinese. They're the hardest working university kids on the planet. Heh, I'll play. Here's one from Wuhan back i 2007. Another bloke, hard at work.

It is not always readily apparent, particularly in areas where foreign ESL workers may be around; however if you have ever been through any factories or spent time in less developed sections, you may also get the impression that this is a "siesta" culture country.
