I don't understand what this could be about and am far too frightened to check the link.

If I must be honest, then I'm listening to Avril Lavigne singles. She's such a bitch.

I have a manly reason though. They sing these songs in Generation Kill. Which I am also reading. Immersing oneself in the experience of war.

In an effort to find some new musical discoveries, I downloaded the 2011 SXSW artist sampler. Whoah. 800 songs by as many artists. Bands from all over the world, too. I've since been tracking down albums by many of these bands. It would take me forever to describe them, but here is a short list:

The Bright Light Social Hour
The Refreshments
HORSE:the band
The Novocaines
Kublai Khan
Lolita No. 18
The Cambodian Space Project
Peelander-Z
Boom-Boom Box
Fever Fever
Dance Laury, Dance
The Stripminers
HOWL
The Jack Grace Band
Faceless
Ezra Furman and The Harpoons
Alexis Fox (stripper name or what?)
The Faceless
The Rubber City Rebels
The Streets On Fire
The white Eyes

I also downloaded a torrent called 1001 rare punk 7 inches. Lots of great stuff on there (The Dishrags, The Spores, The First Steps) that is only available on out of print vinyl.

Geek alert here too.  Now beginning Neil deGrasse Tyson's, "Death By Black Hole". Pretty sure it's about fatalities related to sexually transmitted diseases.

Hamako Watanabe - [song title unknown]

Old Japanese song. Has something to do with China, maybe. Like the sound anyway.

Before I came to China, I spent about two years in Mexico. I came to absolutely LOVE The Gipsy Kings (even though they are NOT Mexican, they are Spanish/Catalan/French).

I have been listening to their music for about 4 months straight now on my MP3. I may be a strange bird, but I go through phases like this sometimes. I spent almost three years in graduate school listening to nothing but Miles Davis. I was doing a lot of writing at that time and I went through a phase when song lyrics really bothered me and I didn't want to hear them at all.
