The Innocents starring Deborrah Kerr. Totally scared the bejesus out of me as a girl. As it did thirty years later.

The other one is a story set in a European country controlled by a so called Christian puritanical sect. I forget the title but I can recall Chopin's nocturns which kinesthetically took me into the space and made me tearful for weeks.

Speaking of Deborah Kerr, at least I think it was her with Robert Mitchum, in "The Sundowners", an early attempt by Hollywood to make an Australian movie.

Didn't see that one, George. Would have liked to just to compare it with the Chips Raffetty original. By the way. Have a lovely time at 'home' and give mummy lots of pots of tea. No tea bags!! Come back safe and sound. That is, remember the Dees might topple you over soon.

By the way, still finding my way around the bar after eating the fatted calf,( and having to drink five flat beers). The spelling nazi wasn't there, I'm sure. And who is making that buzzing noise outside the Ladies?

Chips Rafferty was in that film with DK and RM. Are you thinking of "The Shiralee"??

Sure it's the Shiralee I'm thinking of. But why am I now thinking of Brian Brown...

So am I mistaken in recalling that Chips wasn't in the original 'Sundowners'?

Yes. But was Chips in the original? Perhaps it's just in my mind but I think I can recall an earlier version than the Wollywood takeover?  Happy to be wrong. Just something I can remember. Unlike the Dees ever winning a game. (Shoosh!!)

You may well be right, but the only "Sundowners" I remember was the DK and RM one.

I remember seeing Jedda when I was very young - Australia's first colour feature film (not that it made any difference - I saw it on B&W TV!) and it was the 1st Australian film to be shown in Cannes. A young Aboriginal girl brought up in an enclosed white world.

But I would really like to get my hands on "One night the moon" plus Rabbit Proof Fence.

"One night the moon" is exceptionally good - with Paul Kelly and Kelton Pell, Ruby Hunter.  Music by Paul Kelly and Uncle Kev Carmody.  And if you want to hear guitars that can talk - you need to sit round a campfire one night with Uncle Kev!!

Rafferty played Quinlan in the 1960 Sundowners with Kerr and Mitchum.  Peter Ustinov was also in this movie.
