The title is actually "DRIVE, HE SAID" (not two different films: DRIVE and HE SAID) adapted from a book, I believe. ;)

Jack Nicholson directed it, too.

I think you have to remember it's not what we like, it's want they will be interested in. I loved the Breakfast Club but when a teacher at my old school showed it to her students, they didn't get the jokes. Remember they do not understand sarcasm here.

Eagle it's too bad I moved. I brought the Degrassi series with me from Canada.

Good point.

If I was in the same situation, regarding university-themes films with a degree of realism, and I only had limited choices: I'd probably stick with HOW I GOT INTO COLLEGE. It has easily-translatable physical humor and universal themes. As for high school themes, I agree that THE BREAKFAST CLUB could come off as incredibly alien based upon my limited experience with mainland Chinese youth culture. Not just the humor, either,  but the character dynamics, cutlural references, and how dated the film is (it doesn't even apply to the youth of North America today). DEGRASSI HIGH is definitely golden if you can find it, and with fewer culture-specific trappings.

I watched DeGrassi yonks ago with my kids. One thing that struck me was that one of the cast would often wear a Footscray Football jumper! Funny, I thought...Canada...Footscray footy jumper...funny!!
