Hi Kitano. I recall the incidents in Japan, but they were neither on the scale nor near the frequency as the ones that have occurred in China over the last year; never mind the last three days. How this differs from the west is that it is usually over very arbitrary, petty things and almost exclusively carried out by unemployed, single men over 40, without families. Perhaps it's a dark, mentally disturbed mind's reaction to a one child policy, restrictive overlords, and the reality they never fell into the Confucian straight jacket of having a family as easily as their relatives and peers. Social failure? Perhaps. Frequency of such copycat killing sprees is not even comparable. In China, public schools are usually the ground zero. Everything in China is about copying what others do more than formulating ideas of your own. Add insanity and little practical, productive mental health care in society and it's a powder keg that results in this kind of truly disturbing turn of events.
