Can I ask where you were going to be teaching, Tai Li? I only ask because I have a sneaking suspicion that I'll be getting a similar email within the next few days (initial issuing of work permit is taking a lot long than I thought it would and I'm starting to get pretty nervous).

Yeah, keep emailing and calling and something will turn up. As per the advice given.

One Q: which city is this school in? The PSB (Police) enforcement of such regulations seem to differ considerably between police regions. Changsha can be tough.

Did Tai_Li overcome their setback? Reading the woes of newbies, many years removed from being in their shoes I am reminded of the pain in the ass of getting started here.

Happy to say I have overcome, and am now happily employed at Changsha University in Hunan. I haven't bee here long, so I'm sure I'll have something to complain about sooner or later (lol), but I'm happy to be in China finally.

Good to hear, but could you be a little more specific as to how your initial difficulty was overcome.

"I'm sorry our provincial foreign expert bureau refused your documents. They said you have no teaching experience. You should have at least two-year teaching experience.

I just kept applying to other schools in other provinces.

Congrats, that's good news. How are you finding Changsha (it's one of the furnace cities, is it not?)?
