Morning in the Hutongs
« on: September 15, 2008, 11:56:56 PM »
The hutongs are fascinating to wander in.

Quaint shops with lovely architecture.

Doorways into mysterious places

Family vege gardens

Neighbourhood security guards training before trotting out to the streets.

Returning home after a visit to the local loo

A helping hand never goes astray

One previous temple I wandered into had been rented to a great charity - Hongdandan.  This groups provides accommodation and training for the blind and deaf.  They teach them to play musical instruments, paint and also to translate movies into blind/deaf friendly entertainment.  A blind and hearing impaired young fella practicing.  Check out the web page if you are interested in helping.

Studio where they do the movie conversion

The bottle sorters - well dressed and mature.

Washing day in the hutong

The players

Neighbourhood volunteers

Temple converted to the T'tan Agency

Fancy kindergarten for the officials children

Morning view of the world going by

Hutong funeral

Badminton gold medal 2016

Revolutionary slogans

After T2 the students ran to this alley but were chased by the gendarmes and ...

Public gardens

Comfort in the streets

Wandering here is fun!!

I've tried several times on different days and still can't get these pictures to load. llllllllll  I know it's my slow, slow server.  Frustrating, as I'm sure they are up to your usual standards, Lotus.
If you want to walk on water, you have to get out of the boat.
