Whew!
All of my wonderful students are heading out to West Sydney in July!
That was close!
Hopefully we can persuade the admin at my Uni to send their students to a more...um....valid.....(I'm trying to be PC here!) market than the one in Oz.
Why do they go to Oz? Because the IELTS acceptance scores are lower!!! Well, Dah!!
What the heck is wrong with CANADIAN Universities??
(and please, we're not getting into a discussion of the innumerable repeats of the Bar Admission Course in Upper Canada!)........
Lots of Uni's here are affiliated with Canadian Uni's...........so why can't our students make the 6.5????
Why are we so desperate to send them "wherever/whatever"??
Sending students to financially covert operations IS against all that we, as teachers, believe in............isn't it???
Melbourne is WAY off my radar right now for potential students - mind you - Oz was always suspect anyways - given the quality for higher education in Canada and the UK.
It just SUCKS that the money-grubbers are exploiting the system and the fallibility/innocence of a nation so hungry for knowledge.
Maybe China needs to reassess its attitude to "what IS the limit?" !!!
I, for one, know that MY students are worth SO much more.
And, FWIW...........they, and their families work damned hard for it. More than we ever would want to know.
Exploitation has many faces...........maybe China has yet to learn this.
Experience is a tough mistress.

Universities everywhere seem to be stooping to new lows to bring in the bucks...
But I gotta admit, I was pretty stunned by my time with The University of Technology at Sydney, at their JV school in Shanghai.
I guess UTS's Latin motto- "Ave, Nauta!" should have tipped me off...

Just like in China, Australian universities are arranged in 'strings'. Some are first-rate, others perfectly acceptable, and others a tad questionable.
My brother had the misfortune of attending one of the last cetegory of university. I think UTS also falls into that category.
