I know this ought to be a poll but I am crap at anything vaguely mathematical,so could someone else do that graphic thingy for me?
I am just curious to know how many saloonies found their romantic happily ever after in China. It seems like every other day now someone is claiming to have found their one and only, and it would be nice to see if that impression is true or not.

I met and married my husband in China. :) I'll see if I can add a poll for you piglet but I'm kind of crap at that sort of thing too so we'll see ... !
Well shoot, I couldn't figure out how to do a poll either! Oh well.
-
Ok piglet, here's your poll!
-
What does the last one mean? Obligatory other mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm
You need one that says "Came to China, didn't date, wasn't looking" Or None of the above ahahahahah ahahahahah
-
Haha ... you know, there's always an "other" on these things DS! :P Maybe people didn't date at all and weren't looking, maybe people hooked up casually with random strangers, maybe people had friends with benefits ... the possibilities are endless! Other covers it all.
-
I can actually answer "yes" to 3 of those..."Came to China with my partner"...check...."Dated...but no marriage"...check..."obligatory other(s)"...check. Good grief. bibibibibi
-
thanks LD that is cool. I wanna check "came to China with my partner" but since we aren't there yet I guess I will have to wait.

I came to China alone looking for nothing but one night stands (419). I had my share uuuuuuuuuu
Then, one of them stayed overnight.
Then stayed the weekend
Then ended up staying for over 3 years
-
I can't comment as well as I would like to. She reads my posts.
Got into work and got a wife, and the rest is misery history.
-
You know what they say Paul, there are three rings attached to a marriage;
The Engagement Ring
The Wedding Ring
The Suffer-ring
-
What is it they say about gays that makes them suitable husbands-they have suffered pain and bought jewellery?
-
Came to China, fell in love with China, went back to USania, got divorced, came back to China,
got a net thrown over me by a Chinese girl, fell in love with a Chinese girl, and got married.
-
Met and married my wife here in China and am happier and better for it. 谢谢中国
-
A friend told me his wife is an angel. I told him he's lucky, mine's still alive
bibibibibi
(I'll be here all week folks, try the veal)

bkbkbkbkbk Ha, good one Day Dreamer.
I met my Chinese girl back in my hometown, proposed to her within 8 months, then got her pregnant, moved to China, married her within 4 days of arriving and now I've met a lovely Chinese lawyer who's helping me divorce her:))
-
I've dated, but not married.
And to be frank. I wont marry, and am less likely to marry a girl in China.
Im not going to stay in China, FACT. And another fact is I dont exactly have a hidden fortune to marry and bring a girl back to England either. Sure, Ill date a girl again (I hope) and I may have one night stands again (I hope not TBH) but marriage is a real no-no.
I had a little money saved in 2009, and I gave it all to my son before I returned to China late 2009 just to make sure I couldnt even entertain the idea of a serious relationship! Marriage is absolutely the last thing I want, and would go against the grain of everything I still want to do in my life!
Im probably the odd one out ababababab But at 42 years old I have realised Im not really the marrying kind, Im happier on my own, happier without the responsibility and I feel that if I cant really do serious adult, long term, committed and responsible relationships with girls from a shared culture, shared country, and shared passport...thinking I can do it with a girl I dont share any of the above with is asking for trouble!
-
nicenightforawalk, for a young man,you are very wise. agagagagag bfbfbfbfbf
-
Hmmmm, I dont get called wise very often. Everyone thinks Im mad most of the time...and they say 'one day, you'll meet the right one', but they have been saying that for a long time. Fact is, for me, life is easier, freer and a lot less hassle when Im single. I kinda hope it stays that way really.

had a short relationship with a chinese guy from weifang. was never part of my plans to be romantically involved with a chinese but it happened akakakakak it didn't last long for the racial reason and status in life. llllllllll
sent me email the other week telling me he already got married last year BUT he still misses me.. ababababab

I'm married, but I still miss you too. akakakakak

Nicenight4aw (I'm getting lazy), that was how I felt when I came to this muddled kingdom almost 10 years ago. Dating yes, a meaningful relationship yes if possible, but marriage and family? No way. Not in this life. End of. I'm too old for that nonsense a second time.
The end though is rarely where we expect it, and now I sing a different tune.
It was long ago and far away and so much better than it is today
It never felt so good it never felt so right; we were glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife.
-
Different strokes for different folks, but my tune is stuck on replay bfbfbfbfbf
My grown up son is my main priority, and Ill invest time/money and effort into him rather than on a relationship for me. He's the reason I wont stay in China permanantly, and also the reason why I wont take 12 month contracts. I simply wont stay away from the UK for that period of time.
My last job in China ran from Dec 09 - June 10, and prior to leaving for China that time, I gave him about 60% of my life savings and booked a holiday for the both of us for June 2010. That kinda meant that even if Zhang ZiYi had rolled up and offered me a marriage proposal I woulda been outta there!
This time Ill be there to work from October 2011 - June 2012...and Ill be back in the UK again for two years after that. ananananan
-
Bring him over to China for vacation and say yes to Zhang Ziyi! akakakakak
-
Maybe it was a slight exaggeration to say I would turn down Zhang ZiYi, Ill admit that...but you get my point bjbjbjbjbj
-
maybe go for a close non-marital relationship. "Friend with benefits" sort of thing.
-
Met a girl after 6 months, married after 2 years. We still have the proper ceremony to do next year (in the UK and China) and I have my stag do tomorrow!

You're having a stag party and didn't post an invite here well in advance so that some of us could make it?!?!

Well, if you want to come to the UK you're more than welcome! I'm back here for the summer hols- the wife's coming in 2 weeks so now I have the freedom for stag..
-
Damn. I need a little more time than that to engineer an excuse about why I need to run off the the UK.
Attention bachelors - the next person planning a goodbye to bachelorhood party needs to give everyone here at least 1 month's warning.
-
Met my wife on line, talked to her for just over a year before meeting in China for the first time, was married the next day... It has been seven years and no itch yet
-
We will be doing our wedding registration on October 8.

Never had plans to marry. Went out of my way to avoid commitment since I started dating roughly 20 years ago. Came to China and within 6 months had the stamp and booklet. I blame the baijiu. :alcoholic:
Been well over a year now and so far she has avoided every negative Chinese wife stereotype. She cooks, cleans, and does the thousands of things I can't do with limited Chinese. Her family is awesome. Hope my luck continues uuuuuuuuuu

I am the obligatory other as I am a gay man and unlike back home in NY where I am treated as an equal and so are my relationships, not so much here...
-
China has some catching up to do in that department. Like in the USA, you'll probably find more modern attitudes in the biggest cities.
-
shakemyspear I have had several gay friends and they have been able to find relationships here. One guy I worked with even kept a picture of his boyfriend on his desk and the Chinese staff were curious but definately not disapproving. There are gay bars here and not just in the big cities. The problem is that they tend to be off the beaten path and not well known.
-
Babs, Suzhou in particular has a reputation as perhaps the most gay-friendly city in China. I never saw it myself that I knew of, but it was supposedly there...
Oops! This thread is about getting married in China, innit? bibibibibi
-
I clicked 'Obligatory Other'. My situation is 'different' -
I met, fell in love and married a Chinese girl while at university in Canada. We're now divorced... and... she's in Canada and I'm in China. WTF happened? mmmmmmmmmm
-
Ok piglet, here's your poll!
Too funny.
