Pay from 1st Sept. to 30th June. Doesn't give you any holiday pay! That's not good.

Yeah, but it's not uncommon.  At least they pay winter holiday.
Back home and still confused about what the locals are saying.

Standard.  Bog standard.  Plus a few stabs in the thigh:

80 hours per month.  That's a tad high.  (Actually, on reflection, it's very high.  For 5k a month you should be thinking 12-14 periods a week.)

And a ten-month contract, while these days becoming the standard, isn't spectacularly wonderful.  Your residence permit will be tied to your contract, so if you want to move to a different school in your second year, you're looking at 2 months that aren't covered by a legal right to reside in country.

Also, "private affair leave"... that's for when you have a death in the family.  You get three days.

Ask for more money.  Definitely ask for more money.

8,000 will never happen, but in a pure, rainbow-filled world, 5k-per-month contracts have been around long enough that they should have become 8k-ers by themselves.   Especially since the poopy-heads who write these things again and again realised they can clip 2 months off the end of them.

(Lastly, it probably does, but you'd better make sure "lodgings" means "private, furnished apartment, not attached to school dormitories".  And it's becoming necessary these days too to find out just how far away from the teaching site you will be living.  Walking distance, or a 30-minute shuttle bus ride?)

I think it says they pay for water and electricity and party B pays for phone calls.  The bit I don't like is the leave for private affairs.  Not only do you get docked pay, but you also have to make up the classes.  One or the other is fine - not both.

I also think the hours are high. 16 per week is about average.

The shuttle bus to a second campus is getting to be pretty normal - and is usually free.  Check that if they do have 2 campuses, that it is an internal bus, not a public one, and that it is free.

I'm also not worried about living on campus.  There are no restrictions on my comings and goings - I frequently wander back in between 3 and 4 am, waking the poor gate security guards up.  I think universities are pretty used to this.

And there are benefits to living on campus.  2 of my post-grad debate students and 1 young teacher have just left - and we spent a good evening talking about literature and life.  This is fun that you may not have when you live off campus.

You have to admire the attention to detail, done in a language foreign to the employer.  Awesome!  :-)

You might want to clarify about living on campus rules. Cause some campuses DO have strict rules. I remember in Qingdao some teachers had to get back before 11 otherwise they had to either climb walls or stay elsewhere with friends.

In my old contract I had points in the appendix.  My apartment was mine. If something was broken they had 24 hours to fix it, if they did not inform me about the water being shut off and I didn't have a shower before class, I didn't have to go.  If I didn't get 48 hours notice of a schedule change, the changes were optional.

Powerful stuff.  Admirable.  :-)
