Title: Euro 2012 - CCTV 5
Post by: WastedYouth on June 03, 2012, 06:45:04 AM
Howdo Saloonies,
(A question for them that care!)

Will CCTV 5 be showing live games?

(The reading of the TV listings on tinternet in Chinese is unfortunately beyond me!...and the tones...and asking for a cigarette lighter and not requesting a hand job! "Da Hwey Jee!" not "Da Fay Jee!"...DUMBKOPF!

Yes, yes I am English and would like to see us fail miserably again in real time as it is national tradition (Jocks, Taffs, Paddies get ready to chuckle and diss)

Obviously not England, who looks to be your tip for the top?

Unless England can do the impossible I am supporting France and Germany.

I know they are England's traditional enemies but they both have really good young teams, and for some reason I don't like Spain who are the favourites, they remind me of Italy 10 years ago, they are good but for some reason I don't like them

Ah thats great, didnt realise it was on cctv. To check the times cant you just go on skysports.com/football and then add the correct amount of hours from gmt - atleast thats what I plan on doing.

Shame Im in a small city with not many people to watch it with  :alcoholic:

This is really frustrating because Euro Championship is my favourite tournament but watching them on my own really late at night makes it much less fun. Tempted to go to the pub for the England game

BTV is rebroadcasting the games in the afternoons, which is how I've been watching them.

I just can't do that, I'd read the paper in the morning and spoil all the fun for myself....

I used to like supporting Ireland as a second team at the tournaments and it's a shame that they kept missing out on tournaments by a point or a playoff for the last 10 years then get put into the group of death

tell me about it ananananan

However, I get the feeling the players might pull at least one result out of the bag before this group is finished. They are a lot better than they played last night. Hopefully we'll be able to rock the apple cart a little bit, get a bit of pride back. The fans who've travelled in their thousands deserve something to cheer.

In a break from typical Irish habits, I think I'm actually going to support England this year.  ahahahahah. I was impressed with their workmanlike performance last night, and i have a soft spot for Woy.

Also, it's hard not to feel for the underdogs right?  ahahahahah

Been watching this most nights, was surprised by England the other night literally had no belief in them winning against a strong French team.

Netherlands seems to be having a very bad time with things, again something I had not predicted.

All in all so far has been very exciting and most of the matches unpredictable, also I have been impressed with the quality of the coverage by CCTV so well done China! agagagagag

What kind of TV do you have? Fiddle with the screen settings for regular format (4:3) and wide-screen (aka letterbox) format (16:9).

I didn't see it all, but the Spanish always seemed  much stronger. I was surprised to find it was 4-0 when I woke up tho, the Irish team were attacking not infrequently (albeit in a pretty impotent way.) Thought you guys might be able to squeeze one in.

Spain played the same style of game they did against Italy. The difference factor was that Torres actually found his magic touch and might have regained his confidence. If that's the case, this tournament just became competitive because up to now, only Germany looked like they had the right chops to get the job done.

They'll have to play much better than that against Italy. But I think they will!

Finished top of a tough group, into the last 8. I believe

Well England were bloody lucky last night, stayed up to watch but not sure if it was really worth it today...

Hopefully things improve drastically next match against the Italians or I feel we will probably be exiting this tournament.

Yes they were... Ukraine wasted a lot of opportunities, not to mention the non-call

I was extremely surprised and pleased that Sweden came to play.. that's one hell of show that they put on and my respect for those players went up a few notches.

Germany were fantastic last night and were unlucky the score was not bigger, they are looking really dangerous infront of the goal (again), not looking forward to the match if England go on to beat Italy.

Spain - France tonight my bet being on Spain edging it, these lates nights are really starting to take their toll however  awawawawaw

England lost on penalties. I don't feel angry or upset, just a bit sorry for the Italians that they didn't manage it in the first 90mins like they should have, many times over. We've been saved an absolute drubbing at the hands of the Germans and finally bowed out of a tournament that we never once looked capable of winning. And what a penalty from Pirlo, exquisite.

For England this tournament just higlighted for me what a handicap Rooney is. First two games we looked limited but dangerous, second two games we just looked limited

To be honest I'm kind of glad, I probably won't say up to watch any more games....

watched Italy-England with my sister-in-law, who is fiercely pro-England. I kept telling her to have faith, thy're hanging in there, they just have to get one lucky break, etc. And the thing is, Hart was a hero in goal for them. No fooling her though. She may be an England fan, but she ain't stupid.
When Pirlo stepped up to the spot, I said, "I love this guy in the mid-field, but can he take a penalty?" yeah, just maybe.  ababababab It was as though to say, "We can play with you all day and you'll never have a chance"
Both semifinals are going to be good to watch. And I'm watching them in Canada, so I don't have to stay up all bloody night for this!

Rooney needs to lose a few pounds...of hair  bhbhbhbhbh

joking aside, I can't recall the last time i enjoyed seeing Italy play before this game. They were attacking, playing beautiful offence and just a joy to watch. Should have had the game bagged in regulations.

England really did not play well last night, no attacking just defending for the majority. In my opinion the team actually played better without Rooney.

A few positives to be had from an improved England performance in this tournament however, glad we did not have to play Germany as they would have decimated England.

Yup! I put much of that down to Pirlo. He did a lot to control the game, distribute the ball, keep everyone involved. I love guys like that.

I haven't been staying up to watch all the games, it's just too exhausting, but I'm deffo staying up to watch Potugal Vs Spain tonight  bfbfbfbfbf bfbfbfbfbf

It's being billed in the Brtish press as the ultimate collectivist VS. individualist clash, which I like the sound of

Collectivist being the total-tiki-taki-football of Spain, a system so close to perfect that they don't even need to field strikers anymore!!

Individualist being, of course, CR7/C.Ronaldo + 10 nobodies. Now I'm not denying that he's a terrific player, but his onfield shenanigans, and constant performing for the camera really gets on my man-boobs.

Therefore I'll be voting for the schadenfreude ticket - VIVA ESPAGNA (that's  prob wrong, so apologies to the Spanish-speakers in the saloon - 西班牙加油!)

Don't think I'll be staying up for this game tonight. I really don't like watching Spain this time around, it could be the staying up, but they are just too cautious. I know it's better to keep the ball than just panic and kick it away like half the England players do, but the constant sideways passing bores me silly.

Whatever else we learned tonight, it’s now certain that Cristiano Ronaldo may be an extravagantly gifted footballer who has worked hard to hone his talents, but he will never be a great player. When it really mattered, his egocentricity and immaturity got in the way once again.

Any real leader would have taken his country’s first penalty. Ronaldo, thinking only about the glory of Ronaldo, chose to take the fifth. Portugal deserve better. He deserves to be remembered as the eternally pouting child.

Got to love the Guardian comments section.  bfbfbfbfbf

nice ahahahahah

they really really miss David Villa - he had both cutting edge as well as being able to play in the tiki-taka Barcalona system, which doesn't really suit Torres as well - Torres prefers more direct balls over the top and isn't that good with his back to goal

for me that's the difference between Spain's last world cup incarnation and their current state

Couldn't face watching the game last night, had to be up to early and watching too many of the other games is taking a toll!

Really looking forward to the final, for some reason I just think Italy will edge it. Balotelli was apparently class last night and I look forward to watching him play in the final.
