I have been to Qingdao a couple of times.

It is a really nice town at the coast in Shandong Province. In the past (1897 - 1914), it was a German colony - and this is the place, where the famous germanchinese beer Tsingtao comes from  agagagagag

All over the town you can still see German architecture - especially at the railway station.

The town owns the third biggest habour in the world and is famous for seafood, textiles, houseware electronics and tires.

Also, Qingdao has (I think) 3 beaches. And people say, you can really swim there. Must be truth, I have seen some doing it  bfbfbfbfbf

And, very important, in 2008 the sailing events are held in Qingdao  bfbfbfbfbf

So, if you have the chance, go there - it is worth a visit  agagagagag

Actually, there are 6 beaches in Qingdao  cheexyblonde And you can definitely swim at beach #1,2 and Shilaoren (I think that's 6). Also you can scuba dive there (!!!!!) and wind surf.
