For the first time since I hit China in Feb 2002, I have a garden. Small one, as yet, but I have big plans!!!!
These are the broad beans and peas that have been growing over winter.

The soil seems to be pretty good, and is full of fat, happy worms. Future prospects look good! All I gotta do is dig!

great looking garden George akakakakak agagagagag
my vegetable garden sucked this year. soil not as good as yours. Rabbits ate some of the stuff until I got chicken wire strung around the garden. llllllllll
Flower beds, that I found under 7 years of grass and weeds did better (but took hours and hours to dig out the dang grass and weeds).
Didn't take any pictures of the sorry looking vegetables ananananan

Just an update. Everything has survived the strong winds, and we have peas on the peas, and beans on the beans. Almost ready to eat, though The Babe is already getting stuck into the baby peas.

You've gotta love the Chinese woman. If its edible, they'll eat it then and there.
ps George, don't bend over when gardening.

Maybe next year I will take pictures of my garden. This year the vegetable garden was a dismal failure. The three flower beds were pretty good and definitely will be much better next year (I hope)
Congratulations on a fantastic garden George. akakakakak agagagagag agagagagag

Busy weekend. I can tell you that 70 year old knees aren't suited to gardening. Getting down is no problem, but it is tres shitful getting back up!! Peas are magnifique, and very sweet, straight from the plant, into the mouth.
Dug some more beds and planted beans and sweet corn, strawberries and cucumbers.
Strawberries. Two have runners already, so will be able to cut and replant them in a couple of weeks.

The fence is covered with ivy and other climbing shit, so I have to cur it all back, and tidy it up. Bloody full of snails, so have to buy snail pellets.
The backyard was a mess of weeds that they called a lawn, so I have been poisoning and pulling out. Almost done......for the time being!!!

The peas look great George, but I don't envy the work ahead of you; been there, done that, got the T-shirt!

been there, done that, got the T-shirt!
Yeah, me too, already, GM, but the rewards are worth it.
-
No fair! asasasasas you've got a yard full of dirt! I have to steal dirt on those rare occasions when I get a chance.
-
Suffer!! I had no garden for almost 9 years! The peas are delightfully crunchy. Straight off the vine and into the mouth.............Oh, I think I said that already. bibibibibi

Maybe next year I will get the garden rototilled and actually plant some decent stuff. I will have to buy some decent rabbit fencing so I also get to eat what I plant. bfbfbfbfbf ahahahahah agagagagag

The fruits of my labors. Lightly steamed, whole peas, with a knob of butter and a pinch of salt. Yummy!

Just picked a few veggies from my garden......

My tomatoes, fruit trees and herbs produced prolifically. As did the birds, possums and fruit rats. I managed to protect some goodies, but the rest............. llllllllll
Even got savaged by some varmints I was rescuing from the netting!!
-
Yeah, I got birds tasting my tomatoes, but the biggest nuisance are the bloody Harlequin bugs, into the strawberries! I had to put the strawbs into pots.

George found this online:
Attract natural enemies. Stink bugs have many natural predators who can be invited to hang around the garden. Wildflowers and herbs will attract parasitic flies and wasps. Predators such as birds, toads, spiders, and praying mantises will make their homes in perennial herb and flower beds and small shrubs near the garden.
I also do companion planting were one plant will attract the bugs more than the plants you want saved. You could check that out online too akakakakak

Thanks, DS. I'll check them out.

George, your photos are not visible in New Zealand. I am pretty sure that something like the GFW is not blocking them, because the rugby season has not started yet.
-
Forget my last post - photos now visible ... and I am totally impressed .... and the vegetables are pretty good too!

...mmm. Gardening. Your veg is sublimely photogenic, George. I miss the rural route where I once used to dig til my finger nails were shredded (I never got the hang of remembering to put the garden gloves on mmmmmmmmmm) ...
