In my province back home it's illegal to take anyone's picture without their permission.  Harkens back to a time when said photo might be useful as blackmail material.

I really don't mind (much) the photo thing.

Sometimes it annoys me when done on the sly (in a bar or while eating would count as that), but much prefer the on-lookers to have the manners and balls to ask me. Then, I will do it - with the daft pose (because they love that kind of thing in China).

For a moment you can make someone very happy just by looking into their lens. If only life was full of these free and simple moments.
