Someone snuck the boats out early and didn't tell me.
I also had to sign a waiver. That's a first. Turns out there's a huge paranoia about something going wrong after some other province had an issue and drowned 11 dragon boat crew members.
So, anyone not a villager has to sign a waiver (nice to see a special rule applies to more than just me).
For the time being, I'm just a rower. I may not get a chance to captain this year.
No one under 18 or over 60 is supposed to be in the boats. I think this one is already starting to get broken on both ends of the age spectrum.
We've got lifesaver rings in the boats and hanging here and there around the edge of the pond. I need to find a big, fat laundry marker and start writing things like SS Minnow and Titanic on these.
Someone's being attentive. I missed it, but my wife had pics of one of the motor boats collecting a crewmember who went overboard. He's got a life saver on. Normally, crew who fall off either swim to shore or get picked up by one of the dragon boats. Usually, the motorboats are only out on days when their's a parade or formal race and are parked on simple practice days.
