Unblocked Websites for Uploading Videos

I want to upload a few videos (no more than 1GB in size) and share them with people living and working in China.  I would like to know what websites I can use that are not blocked in the PRC.

My plan is not to illegally share copyrighted content, for example: the latest Hollywood release, but to allow people to download content that I have shot myself.  The films last more than ten minutes, so streaming via You Tube is not an option, besides access to You Tube also seems to be a bit hit and miss.

I would be grateful if you could point me in the direction of a few websites that are easy to access in China.

Well, the main sites are www.youku.com and tudou.com. They are the bigger most legit video websites in China and they have PLENTY of copyrighted material so no worries there.

I do not know if the Saloon would want to get into that, especially in view of the risks a site runs if it supports video. Someone could easily upload something that will bring heavy flak -- pornography, copyright violations or politically sensitive material. Also, handling video takes significant resources. My guess would be that the Saloon admins would not want to touch it.

However, it does seem worth asking them. Video can sometimes be a great thing and my guesses on various topics have been wrong more often than I'd prefer.

You raise a good point, naturally home video of my son's first steps (etc.) can be uploaded and sent as a link in an e-mail, but would this website be happy for me to post a link to a download of some footage of my brief return to China back in the spring?

I appreciate that this could be open to abuse from those banging a drum for a particular cause, but I am rather proud of some of the footage I caught earlier this year of my wife's huge family gathering, and - once I finally get round to editing it all together - would love to share it with people.

Anyway, first things first, baby steps, would my family in China be able to open the pages below if I were to upload video to them?

Tudou is an absolute godsend. It is especially fast at streaming in china, and people upload a lot of British TV which is also lovely.

I've uploaded quite a few of my husband's recordings onto Tudou for him. In China viewing is lightning fast and it is easy to register and start uploading. If you want to do videos for your family in China it might be best to use a China-based site since some (not all) Chinese folk get a bit intimidated by sites in English.

I am not positive about file size, but I've found entire movies on there as a single file, so close to 2 hours. I've also seen them broken up into segments but I assume that's because the uploaders probably didn't have terrific connections.

Tudou has a 10GB limit on the filesize.

be warned that when you upload a video, it might take up to 4 hours for it to be made available publicly on the site.
