Are We Resolved??
« on: December 29, 2007, 12:19:59 AM »
Anyone out here making New Year's Resolutions??  I'm not sure that I have the fortitude to make (and keep) any.  How about the rest of you?

Yep. Resolutions are as follows:

1. Step up Chinese and Turkish studies. Wrote detailed program, must follow.
2. Increase amount of training. Run longer in the morning.
3. Stick to food schedule. Lots of veggies, tofu, wild rice and fish.
4. 365 days of no alcohol (not that I have sworn off the stuf completely but, as it happens, alcohol leads to willpower evaporating and cigarettes being smoked. Not good. Hence the one year abstinence).
5. Finally getting down on paper all these odd stories rumbling around inside my noggin.
6. Trap Stil and feed him to the squirrels.

I always make great resolutions - most of them aimed at achieving perfection.  However, they all for some reason fail miserably pretty quickly.

So for this year - my resolution is:  To enjoy myself.

4. 365 days of no alcohol

and on

6. Trap Stil and feed him to the squirrels.

Every year I make the same New Year's resolution: To smoke, ingest various recreational substances, rock out, and carouse with tarts to the furthest extent humanly possible.

And I have thus far kept it faithfully every year. agagagagag

To do better in the second semester. I did OK this time out, but there was a learning curve as I adjusted to the change in work enviornment. To be a better dad. I think I'm kicking ass at parenthood but I know I could better. Basically...as always...to do better and avoid falling into the trap of being complacent.

I'm debating between making China more efficient or taking up drinking.  Gotta be one or the other.  llllllllll  llllllllll
Back home and still confused about what the locals are saying.

Actually, I would argue that attempting the former would inevitably lead to the latter agagagagag

Don't usually make resolutions other than the standard 'I'll never drink again' New Years Day hangover declaration.

But this year

1. Take a trip to Suzhou
2. Make friends with squirrels

Indeed Eric! I wholeheartedly agree!

mine are pretty simple yet complicated:

- Be a better husband and actually spend my wedding anniversary with wifey  bibibibibi bibibibibi
- start planning a bit better for the future and look into real estate investments somewhere in the world
- waste less money on "rented" beverages that inevitably end up down the toilet
- stop bootcamps once and for all
- get out of China at least twice this year

If I can get those done, I'll be alright

Since I have a bad memory and a very short attention span, it is pointless to make resolutions as they are simply a set up for failure.  Just be me.
