hey just tuning into the updates on this thread now...

I ditto you guyses thoughts on there being a need to liven up the EAP classroom, some of the most enjoyable classes I've had have been when I've taken an old esl chestnut and "academified" it (e.g. changing the vocab and tone of the language to suit the topic)

there's a teacher in my current uni who prides himself on using communicative methods to teach nearly every EAP point... but there are many others who feel this is Academic English (said in a haughty voice) and therefore games and such have no place in the syllabus.  bibibibibi

I've found Lecture Ready 3 to be excellent in terms of academic listening - engaging, contemporary topics with fairly well delivered lectures on Dvd. check em out!

That looks very interesting.  I found this online recently too:

Instant Academic Skills with Audio CD: A Resource Book of Advanced-level Academic Skills Activities Published 2011.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Instant-Academic-Skills-Audio-Advanced-level/dp/0521121620/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1299540454&sr=8-1-fkmr2

The contents makes it look like one of those Instant Lessons type books that you use when you discover you're covering a General English class at the last minute:

http://assets.cambridge.org/97805211/21620/frontmatter/9780521121620_frontmatter.pdf

The price is a bit steep for me, but it would be handy to have on the shelf during one of those weeks where I always seem to be chasing the lessons.
