Further to the strange ways of we Aussies, today is "Melbourne Cup Day". This is celebrated each year on the first Tuesday in November. Today, the whole Country stops to watch a horse race held in Melbourne. Even people who don't usually bother, often have a bet on this race or take a ticket in a "sweep". I am going to "the den" and I expect that they will stream this race live to my "poker Machine". bibibibibi
There will probably be something on your TV news about we nutty Aussies and this race and about the way the women in particular get all dolled up to go to the races. Guess who can't be bothered! bibibibibi

G20 is also being held in Australia next week. llllllllll llllllllll  There are police everywhere already and I probably will have to fight to drive to the city to get to "the den" this week. bibibibibi I believe that I can forget it next week. llllllllll llllllllll llllllllll  If you see something on your news about an old fart fighting the public transport system to go gambling at "the den", it will probably be me. I hope none of the world leaders block my path. ahahahahah

Rather ironic that world leaders placing bets on the economic well-being of nations are blocking our dear Grannie Mae from getting to the casino.

Not only me EL. The Lord Mayor of Brisbane is asking everyone to come to the City( so that it is not a Ghost Town). I think that "the den" will be missing most of its regulars. You may have seen this sort of security, but most of us in BrisVegas have not.  What a sad world it is when the "Group of Twenty (G20) leaders can't meet without this INCREDIBLE security. Apparently we are expecting about 7000 delegates and International media. One of the patrons from the den told me that she is afraid to come into the city to go to the den. bibibibibi   I am not afraid, but I can forget trying to drive as so many roads are being closed and for different periods of time. I  hope that I can work out a way to go on Public Transport; all I need to do is get the correct information about the timetable. Yeah, I know I sound selfish with so much at stake, but I am just expressing things from the general public's point of view as well as my own. To help facilitate this event, people who work in the Brisbane local Government Area will have a Public Holiday on Friday 14th. The Summit will take place on 15-16th November.

Received a letter from "the den", assuring me that the place will be open whilst G20 is on from 14-16 November. They have provided links to the Police and Public transport websites and also their own website for any future updates over all this G20 business.  bibibibibi I really would hate to be a world leader and have to go through all  this, plus all the regular security measures. bibibibibi  To be perfectly honest, I probably wouldn't recognize most of the leaders if they sat down and played the poker machine next to me . :wtf:

That's easy.  Look for the guy flushing a truckload of cash away on wildly stupid bets and not caring how much he loses.

Thanks for the tip EL! bfbfbfbfbf  Without meaning to appear racist, any NON Asian I see doing that, will now set off alarm bells. I'll keep well away from him/her/ them. Would you believe that extra Police are coming from all over OZ and that the Army has set up in the Showgrounds that I have to drive near. bibibibibi  I am expecting to see a lot of different faces today at "the den". Perhaps I can lead some astray and have a few Aussie laughs. afafafafaf uuuuuuuuuu :candyraver: :dancemj:

I hear that this G20 is costing an amount that I can't even get my mind around. bibibibibi I don't think that you folk would want to hear me or countless other Brisbane residents let loose with our Aussie language. Again, that sounds selfish doesn't it, but they have even put up very high security fences all around the different buildings where any of these leaders or their staff, may be staying. Even around the hotel attached to "the den". Who on earth would want to be a world leader? kkkkkkkkkk  I'd really love to meet some of the entourage at " the den", just to see all the different types of people.

Be patient.  If enough of them are staying in the attached hotel, some are bound to invest some of their government's funds in the casino. kkkkkkkkkk

Or, think of it as a generous donation to help compensate the city for all the expenses. uuuuuuuuuu

Well, I drove in to "the den" yesterday and the roads were so quiet, I could have used them as a drag strip. It transpires that heaps of folks left Brissey to get away from any disruptions and the roads out of town were moving at crawling pace.  I got to "the den" before 11am, and got the best parking spot I've ever had. When I went into the gaming areas, one would have thought that there had been an evacuation. I only saw a few people in each area and most of the Asian regulars were nowhere to be seen. I did see a few men from New Guinea and I would have loved to get their impression of a nearly empty Casino. I did not see any other obvious G20 visitors. I really hope that these folk came out at night after their main duties were finished and that they enjoyed our nice old Casino. I don't stay there at night, even though I am given free nights at the hotel.(certain folks wonder if I turn into a Vampire or something after dark ahahahahah). If you get to see any shots of the big ferris wheel at Southbank near where the Summit is held, directly across the river is "the den".
When I was chatting to the security guard (who ran his metal detector over my metal hip to see if it would record) I noticed a group(some of the 6000 here) of Policemen standing in the shade outside the door. I went outside and they said G'day and quickly looked me over and obviously decided that I didn't need to be strip searched. ahahahahah They were nice young men and I didn't envy them their job, particularly since we were experiencing one of our hottest days for many years. As I looked around, the streets were nearly empty. There had been some protest marches which I'm glad I didn't see as I would probably would have been in a punch up with some of them and ended up in jail. ahahahahah. So, given that our city was full of famous people and visitors from many countries and that there were many motorcades, I saw NOTHING. I guess I was just too busy enjoying playing my pokies in peace. :dancemj:
