It would be good to know what the Chinese authorities are doing about the swine flu pandemic that seems to be going around.

Sir run run shaw in Hangzhou was ok. The foreign dept. is in building #3 and is brand new and very nice indeed. Most of the tests and treatment are done in the older buildings though. Hygiene standards and medical practices aren't at the same level as in the west, but close enough to be acceptable. Medical equipment appears modern as well.

Foreigners get (and pay for) the VIP treatment, an English speaking nurse takes you were you need to go and helps sort out the bill. Doctors speak English. Some staff spoke English well, others not so much...

It won't cost an arm and a leg, it's a good alternative to a foreign hospital in Shanghai or Beijing. Those places will end up taking you to a Chinese hospital (or the Chinese half of the JV hospital more likely) anyway as they often don't have the required specialists.
