I've been using ICBC since 2006. I never had any serious problems with them.
My wife thinks most of the big national banks are more or less equal, but favors ICBC and Bank of China.
She also uses DRC, which is Dongguan's local version of the provincial level credit union bank. She's very happy with them.
She opened an account with Ping An. They sent a rep to our house to bring the ATM card and paperwork. If she had been depositing a large amount, I might understand this. It was just a small deposit. I've never heard of any other bank in any country doing this.
Be aware that banks like to shuffle staff between branches, so that friendly employee who understands what you need may be replaced by a much better (or much worse) employee in a few months.
