US Election Finally Over! (mostly)
« on: November 24, 2020, 02:52:37 PM »
Although complaints and accusations will likely continue, the GSA has finally acknowledged Biden's win and has opened the government up to transition procedures.

And thus, Florida is finally officially stripped of its title as Biggest US Election Problem of the modern era.

And despite approximately 60 lawsuits failing and a number of recounts showing no significant changes, the election is still being contested.

The Electoral College votes within the next 24 hours and there is very little chance of any electoral votes being disqualified or flipped before then.

The next serious opportunity to try to derail things will be January 6th, when the votes of each state are presented to Congress.  It is possible to contest these in a state by state fashion, and it looks like some people plan to contest 5 states.  If this happens, debate on each is limited to 2 hours, followed by a vote.

Even of a couple of states are disqualified, it won't change the outcome.

The final options for the current US president are:

Just leave.
Leave while declaring himself the "true" president and set up a "government in exile."
Attempt to get the military to support him in overthrowing the US Constitution.

It is crazy how he's still dragging it out. He's always been pretty eccentric, but this is full Kim Jong Un lol.

The US is competing for the 2020 3rd World Country of the Year award and that's one contest he's determined to win.  ahahahahah

Let's hope this doesn't progress to violence in the streets when the fantasies about magical last minute victories are crushed during the inauguration.

And there are calls for impeachment and/or removal under the 25th amendment.  Even a fast impeachment will take time and there's no telling if enough cabinet members would back removal.  Meanwhile, there are reports that he's again considering a self-pardon.

Even after the election is over and Biden has been inaugurated, this insanity just won't die.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/23/donald-trump-lawsuit-lord-of-the-rings-gondor-election

The suit explains how Gondor’s throne was empty and its rightful kings in exile, presumably positing the idea that Trump is the true king of America – a land happily monarch-free since 1776.

“This analogy is applicable since there is now in Washington DC a group of individuals calling themselves the president, vice-president and Congress who have no rightful claim to govern the American people,” the case states.

It adds: “Since only the rightful king could sit on the throne of Gondor, a steward was appointed to manage Gondor until the return of the King, known as ‘Aragorn’, occurred at the end of the story.”

The lawsuit then suggests that America’s version of the stewards of Gondor should be selected from among – surprise, surprise – Trump’s cabinet members, who should run the country.

And the actual wording of the lawsuit is at https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.txwd.1120287/gov.uscourts.txwd.1120287.6.0.pdf

2. “Gondor has no King,”to invoke a very appropriate quote from the J.R.R.
Tolkien epic classic, “Lord of the Rings.” 2 The Judicial Branch is currently the only
remaining legitimate branch of government and therefore has a duty uphold the checks
and balances in the Constitution to curb the unlawful power grab perpetrated on the
electorate by Defendants. The Court must immediately act to check the power of the
Legislative and Executive branches by placing them into a state of stewardship to
preserve the status quo ante, pending a preliminary injunction and then until a trial on
the merits. Plaintiffs hereby request that the Honorable Court enter the Temporary
Restraining Order attached hereto enjoining the illegitimate 117th Congress and 46th
President (collectively, the “Usurpers”)3 from enacting any new legislation or making
any substantial departures from United States policy, foreign and domestic, as it existed
prior to their unlawful usurpation of power on January 3, 2021 and January 20, 2021,
respectively by appointing a group of trusted special masters to provide oversight to the
Usurpers.4 This concept is similar to the concept of placing a corrupted business in
receivership or in bankruptcy law, which places a “trustee” in charge of the “debtor-inpossession” during the bankruptcy case to rehabilitate the corrupted organization.

And the footnote:
2 During the course of the epic trilogy, the rightful King of Gondor had abandoned the throne. Since only the rightful king could sit on the throne of Gondor, a steward was appointed to manage Gondor until the return of the King, known as “Aragorn,” occurred at the end of the story. This analogy is applicable since there is now in Washington, D.C., a group of individuals calling themselves the President, Vice President, and Congress who have no rightful claim to govern the American People. Accordingly, as set forth in the Proposed Temporary Restraining Order, as a remedy the Court should appoint a group of special masters (the “Stewards”) to provide a check the power of the illegitimate President until this Constitutional Crisis can be resolved through a peaceful legal process of a Preliminary Injunction Hearing and a jury trial on the merits.

I'm waiting to see how lawyers specialized in the Conan and Harry Potter books weigh in on this. ahahahahah
