Title: Old Hands vs. Newbies
Post by: Raoul F. Duke on April 13, 2012, 03:47:00 PM
Folks, we gotta have some peace between newcomers and the long-term expats.

Old hands, remember when YOU were new...and the wonder and enthusiasm with which you saw things. Well, the noobs have every right to the same vision we enjoyed.

Newbies, remember that there are not that many new stories or questions, at least not on basics. Our long-standing members have seen most of them hundreds of times.

We need BOTH groups- old and new- to keep The Saloon healthy and thriving now and into the future. It just breaks my heart when people from either camp leave in a huff over their treatment here.

Tolerance. Forbearance. And oh, yeah, civility. These are the hallmarks of The Saloon, and we need these things from all concerned.

Please play nice.

An appendage:

If a newcomer is behaving rudely or just intolerably stupid (as indeed some have), that's a different story. But even then, the right thing to do is to contact an Admin, not to go on the attack yourself.

Boorish behavior is bad. Being new and excited (and maybe a bit overwhelmed) is not a crime...in fact, it's a GOOD thing for all concerned. And we ALL been there...
